I Took A Wrong Turn
I Took A Wrong Turn
I took a wrong turn. Actually, I’ve taken many wrong turns. However, with modern technology, we are often guided back in the right direction. As a new believer and as a child, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior but lacked direction. I wish I had started with Proverbs for guidance and the Psalms for instruction and hope.
While serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, we came under enemy fire many times. One day, after such an attack, we drove through a large valley. All we could see were graves of men who had died in combat, most of them from the Russian invasion many years prior. We were astonished by the number of dead, but it reminded me of scripture: the valley of dry bones in Ezekiel 37. It gave me strength, knowing that my God is in control. We quickly moved through the valley to a safer location, and I couldn’t help but think of Psalm 23:4:
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.”
God is with us in all that we do. He is our guide and takes us by our right hand if we let Him. Give God a chance to be first in your life, for everything we do should be to glorify our mighty Savior, Jesus Christ.
