Before You Speak: THINK

I do not have a great memory. Not sure why, could be due to a list of injuries to the head, or just unfocused. Memories pop up from time to time. As much as I am blessed with amazing and enjoyable ones, unfortunately the bad, immature, and negative memories find their way back. Memories I've repented from needing a reminder that they don't have control over me, I guess. (thanks to Jesus' forgiveness)

No reason to get into detail with the sin I lived out and regret, but there are things I have said I am not proud of. Even with apologies, you usually cannot take a lot of that back. It could be insulting, hurtful, and negligent words that destroy or tear down as soon as it comes off the lips. I could have meant to speak in a humorous and relaxed manner still to do harm. How much could I have avoided if I just took a second to think about the next words I wanted to say. I did not come up with this, just saw it posted and find it encouraging:

T.H.I.N.K
Is it True?
Is it Helpful?
Is it Inspiring?
Is it Necessary?
Is it Kind?

A good Bible verse to pair with this can be Ephesians 4:29-
Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

My momma, grand-momma, or yours have said before " If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all." What wonderful advice! The hope we have received in Jesus Christ, who gave His life for us but rose from death giving us salvation, should make us the most encouraging, loving, uplifting, and positive people!

Just slow down and take a moment to THINK.
